About the Artist

Who is B. Forrest Sheperd?

A fine artist and oil painter

"Forrest" is B. Forrest Sheperd, a classically trained contemporary artist, with an impressionist twist.  He is a native New Yorker who lives on a Hudson Valley farm with Hill Sheperd, their horses, donkeys & two pound puppies.

In 2026, Forrest won 1st Prize at a juried show in Connecticut for his "American Kestral" painting.  This is the helicopter of raptor birds of prey that can hover above a delicious insect or lizard on its menu.  This juried event for the Great Hollow annual Spring Art Show in "the barn," included more than 60 artists -- so Forrest's award was a "Great Hollow honor!"

Since Fall 2025, Forrest was juried into national and international shows, including his three paintings exhibited at Viridian Artists' Gallery in Chelsea, New York.  One painting won Director's Choice at the Mid-town, NY Gallery.

He has also shipped selected oil paintings to shows nationally, including a Small Works juried show in PA.

Other invites include an amazing month in August, with Forrest's art on display at The Sherman Library in Conn., thanks to Linda & the Sherman Artists' Association.

This Spring, Forrest was invited to exhibit three paintings at the Patterson Public Library in an historic Hudson Valley town north of NYC.  Visit the newly renovated library and see his works through June, 2026.

Brennen Forrest was always a sketch artist and began painting oils on board as a Westchester County, NY teenager.  His work is inspired by the craftsmanship, color palettes and classic designs of the great masters.

Forrest studied in the 1980s with Cesar Borgia at the Reilly League of Artists in New York.  He continues to attend Life Drawing classes in the NYC area.
